ADA In A Day: California Housing Accessibility

Course Description:
Ideal for architects, designers, and other professionals who struggle with the accessibility requirements between California Building Code Chapter 11A and California Building Code Chapter 11B. After this workshop you will have a much better understanding of the housing requirements in California, you will gain your required continuing education units as well as learn of the recent changes in 11A and 11B that became effective July 1st, 2021 specific to housing accessibility. If you have questions or have struggled knowing when and how to apply CBC Chapter 11A or CBC Chapter 11B to your housing and multi-family projects, then this workshop is for you!
Learning Objectives:
- Learn the major differences between Public Housing & Private Multi-Family Housing
- Understanding when and how to apply CBC Chapter 11A versus CBC Chapter 11B
- Clarify Adaptable Units versus Mobility Units for your design
- How to address accessibility requirements in existing buildings
- Important Changes in Chapters 11A and 11B effective July 1, 2021
TIME: 9 am – 3 pm (1 hour lunch break at noon)

Paul has been responsible for ensuring compliance with California accessibility requirements found in the California Building Code Title 24 and American With Disabilities Act for over 20 years. Along with Mark Wood, he owns and operates California Certified Accessibility Specialists, (CalCasp) offering a full range of accessibility compliance services to assist businesses, property owners and architects in complying with Senate Bill 1608 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
