Course Description:

This seminar is an advanced-level class which will present a methodical analysis of Chapter 11B of the California Building Code through case-studies of actual projects. This seminar will make an abundant use of case-study floor plans and photos to clarify the code requirements as they specifically relate to healthcare facilities (both OSHPD and non-OSHPD application).

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop a detailed understanding of accessibility scoping requirements for medical facilities per 11B-223 of the CBC.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of the technical requirements of Section 11B-805 of the CBC for medical facilities.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of ‘Path of Travel’ requirements related to medical facilities.
  • eview Accessibility Code Updates from the 2019 CBC Interim Code Cycle (Applicable 7-1-2021).
  • Review OSHPD accessibility interpretations per Code Application Notice CAN 2-11B.
