How does your career trajectory include service to society and the profession, and what sustains your continued engagement?
As a current member of the City of Sacramento Planning and Design Commission, former member (appointed) of the City Council and an Architect, I have been especially interested in the approval process of the built environment within the City’s jurisdiction. Therefore, since 1994, I have been involved in the development of design guidelines that identify significant design issues and expectations within a process that includes community participation.
Is there a specific time that you feel your contributions made an impact or when your skills as an architect made a difference?
Chair of the General Plan Advisory Committee (2004 to 2008) involved in the development (including community engagement) of the 2030 General Plan.
At-Large Commissioner on the Planning and Design Commission with a emphasis on design issues.
