AIACV Emerging Professional Director
The AIACV Emerging Professionals (EP) Committee has a lot of fun and exciting events planned for the year—but let’s be honest, that’s the case every year. What makes this year particularly exciting though, is that we are in the process of restructuring several of our events based on attendee feedback and to better align with the chapter’s Strategic Plan. Below is a brief overview of some events to look forward to this year:
ARE Prep – The first event that the EP committee is working on restructuring is the ARE Prep series. The Chapter will now be using AIA’s ArchiPrep as the core of the exam prep series, and an information session on the platform will be hosted on March 24th. AIA members will serve as content specialists available during specific “office hours” where students can come in and ask questions related to your studies. If you are licensed and available a couple of evenings a month to help out, we’d love to add you to our list of volunteers. Please reach out to the Chapter office for more details: [email protected].
Be the Leader – AIACV and SRBX teamed up today on a leadership symposium on maintaining a healthy work/life balance. Based on a survey done by both organizations, this issue was the number one concern amongst emerging professionals in the architecture and construction industry. We thank Courtney McLoed-Golden, AIA for speaking on behalf of the architecture community.
So You Want To Be an Architect – Our annual “SYWTBaA” event is coming up the first of April. Typical this event is solely focused on the various paths to licensure—this year however, we are adding a layer of the various types of work architects do, from project types to the varying scope of an architect’s tasks. This is important because the path isn’t just how you get licensed, but how you align your path with the type of architect you want to be when you get there. Click here for more info.
Bite of Design – An architect, chef and owner come into a restaurant…. no, it’s not a joke, join AIACV’s Bite of Design Series and meet all three while learning about their perspectives and the how the project came together. Watch for details on our Spring Bite of Design in April.
Get the Scoop – This is a great event to “get the scoop” on the yearly Chapter events and committees and get involved in the Chapter. The event will feature volunteer leaders from each of our committees and activities, enthusiastically hosting tables ready to share information, candy (or other edible wrapped treat) and raffle prizes. Visit all the tables to increase your knowledge of the Chapter and your chances of winning.
If you are working on licensure or have been licensed 10 years or less, we welcome you to drop by and attend an EP committee meeting. The committee meets the first Wednesday of each month at the Chapter. If you have any questions about Emerging Professionals, please feel free to reach out: [email protected]
