The AIACV Committee on the Environment (COTE) is excited to be working on planning out our 2023 programs and events. In the past, the committee has led activities such as Biophilia Sketch & Share, roundtable discussions with our local experts in the design community, as well as participated in community events such as Earth Day and Elk Grove Energy Day. One such event is coming up that the committee is very excited to offer!
The AIACV Committee on the Environment has developed a “ZNCD in a Day” event that provides ALL the credits you need in one-day to meet the new mandatory continuing education requirements for all California architects. The sessions will take place in-person with a full lunch included. Participants will hear from local experts in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry with plenty of time for discussion and Q&A with the presenters. The sessions will cover a variety of topics ranging from adaptive re-use to California Building Code and CALGreen code updates to achieving a project decarbonization plan. The final session includes a tour of the LEED Platinum Department of General Services, Clifford L Allenby Office Building, designed by ZGF and Lionakis. Both members and non-members are invited to join.
As a reminder, the AIACV’s COTE is an open forum, so all are welcome to participate! We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate individuals who would like to join the conversation on sustainability, resiliency, and community engagement within our local chapter. From emerging professionals to seasoned professionals, to architects and engineers, we would love to have ALL of our peers within the industry represented at our meetings and contribute to the discussion.
This year, COTE committee meetings will be held quarterly. At each meeting, the committee will discuss and plan upcoming activities and events within our chapter and community. In addition, there are engaging conversations about the latest news and developments within our area and region such as environmental activism, recent built projects, community engagement, and much more. The next meeting is scheduled for the first Wednesday in April. To join in, please contact the Chapter office to be added to our BaseCamp Project.
