Tell us about your product or service:
At Lionakis, we work to create environments that transform the communities in which we all live and work. Lionakis specializes in Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design, and Lab Planning.
Tell us how you and your company are active in our community:
Headquartered in Sacramento, Lionakis has been in business for 113 years, and has regional offices in Oakland, San Jose and Orange County. The firm was started by California’s first State Architect, George Sellon, who designed the building that is now the Citizen Hotel at 926 J Street, among others.
One of the founding members of the AIACV, the firm has grown to more than 175 employees. Lionakis provides A/E Services in the Civic, Healthcare, and Education markets to design better futures for its clients’ communities and businesses.
Why do you volunteer?
The Lionakis Foundation is just one of the ways that Lionakis “gives back” to the communities we serve. The Foundation is an employee-driven giving program which supports non-profits that provide services to a wide range of individuals and communities. Additionally, the firm’s employees serve on the boards for charities ass well as AEC organizations such as the AIACV, SEAOC, CASH, and SRBX.
It the firm’s goal to build a legacy of giving for future generations of architects, engineers, and designers to continue. An example of this legacy building is the new Food Distribution Canopy for the River City Food Bank in Sacramento, which was designed and constructed in 2022 on a pro-bono basis.
The design and construction of the canopy involved the full spectrum of Lionakis’ design services and, as important, teaming with industry partners such as consultants, contractors, and subcontractors. The canopy rendering and photo (above) depict the vision and reality of this important addition to the River City Food Bank campus.
