ABOUT THE PRESENTERS:
Courtney McLeod-Golden, AIA, Principal and Practice Group Leader of HGA
Courtney McLeod-Golden, Principal and Practice Group Leader for the Arts, Community and Education sector at HGA Architects, has more than 25 years of experience in the industry. Her background and expertise includes master planning, programming, design, and project management for public and educational clients. She has been in several leadership roles including Managing Principal and sees the importance of mentorship as key to HGA’s success. Courtney is an exceptional collaborator with a strong focus on building a creative team culture that provides timeless, quality design for clients.
Courtney has a Bachelor of Architecture and Environmental Design from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo and has served as Board Chair for SkillsUSA California, a national membership association serving middle school, high school and college students preparing for careers in trade, technical, and skilled-services occupations. Each year she devotes time to coordinating the Architectural Design and 3D Animation contests at their Annual State Conference.
When she is not working, Courtney enjoys traveling or being connected with her family and friends. She gets recharged being in the mountains on her skis, carrying a backpack on hiking trails, and exploring new terrain on her bicycle. One of her favorite ways to get downtime is watching classic films from the 1940s and 50s.
Dan Wheeler, Vice President & General Manager of Turner Construction
Dan Wheeleris a Northern California native with over 29 years of experience in program, design and construction management, specializing in education, commercial, and transportation-related projects. His leadership and mentoring skills build highly productive teams that place an emphasis on schedule and quality control. A CSU Chico alumnus, Dan joined Turner in 2006 as a senior project manager, quickly earning a promotion to project executive, then to business development manager. In 2013 Dan began serving as manager of the Special Projects Division until his promotion in 2015 to vice president and general manager of Special Projects. In his current role of the Sacramento Business Unit’s Vice President and General Manager, Dan is providing executive-level leadership and management on new projects such as the Natural Resources Headquarters Building and West Park High School.
