The CAE is well on its way in planning our 2022 programs and school site tours. First, I want to thank Chris McGiff-Brown of DLR Group for joining as co-chair of the committee. You may remember that Chris hosted a tour of his firm’s West Park High School as part of last year’s CAE activities. Welcome, Chris!
We have a number of events and activities planned for 2022, including:
· Working with AIACV’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee (EDI), we will be hosting a discussion on April 6th on the topic of inclusive or gender-neutral restrooms in schools, sharing trends in this important and evolving area.
· We will be hosting school site tours, one specifically in higher education. The tours are tentatively scheduled for May and November and will be followed by a networking mixer.
· Our focus project will be to introduce students to age-appropriate books about architecture, combined with a hands-on activity. We hope to launch this effort into regional schools for school year 2022/23 following a “test-run” during Experience Architecture.
The CAE is an open forum – all are welcome! We would love to have ALL our regional “school design” firms represented – from emerging professionals to seasoned pros – as well as our allied and sustaining partners, to provide their input and expertise into our regional programming.
Our next meeting is this Thursday at 12 noon. Pop in and check it out. E-mail the Chapter at [email protected] for the Zoom link and to be added to the CAE project group on BaseCamp.
