ADA Webinar: Circulation Paths, Accessible Routes, and CBC Chapter 11B

This course will review the requirements at California Building Code, Chapter 11B, Section 11B-250 Circulation Paths to provide code users with an understanding of what is required at vehicle and pedestrian interface areas such as parking facilities. We will cover the changes made to the access requirements during the 2019 Intervening Code Cycle, including definition and scoping changes. Attendees will understand how circulation path requirements will enhance safety for pedestrians with disabilities.

Learning Objectives:

  • Attendees will understand the definitions and terminology used, and review what components make up a circulation path and how to enhance safety for people with disabilities.
  • Attendees will understand the goals and requirements for circulation paths in locations with vehicle traffic, and how to make them accessible.
  • Attendees will understand the exceptions provided at 11B-250 for existing buildings and facilities.
  • Attendees will learn and know the correct use of detectable warnings in circulation paths for people with disabilities.
