Join hosts Kris Barkley, AIA, Elizabeth Hawks McBride, AIA, Sugra Panvelwala, AIA, Mark Roddy, FAIA, and Saxon Sigerson, AIA for another edition of Arch Matters. Our evening of discussion will be centered around the work of architect and design theorist Christopher Alexander.
Well known for his work titled, A Pattern Language, Christopher Alexander pioneered the idea of design via incorporation of established patterns. Patterns derived from his analysis of traditional buildings, cities, and spaces.
Can design be codified into these pre-established patterns? Are these patterns still applicable today? We will explore these questions and more in our next Architecture Matters. We will have a short presentation followed by an open discussion led by Kris Barkley, AIA.
