Exploring Biophilic Design Presentation

March 9, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

A presentation focusing on biomimicry, hosted by the Chapter’s Committee on the Environment (COTE).

The Chapter’s Committee on the Environment (COTE) is hosting a two-part program focusing on biomimicry. Biophilia is the evolution of biophilic design in architecture and planning and presents a framework for relating human biological science and nature in a more harmonious manner.

Part One: A virtual session on how biomimicry can reduce stress, enhance creativity and clarity of thought, improve our well-being and expedite healing. As the world population continues to urbanize, these qualities are more important than ever. In addition, biophilic designs in great architecture will be shown, as well an explanation of the scientific principles and the difference between Biomicicry and Biophilia.

Part Two: An in-person “Sketch & Share” activity. Attendees will meet for a brief review of sketching techniques and receive drawing materials, then disperse to varied locations to sketch. The group will re-gather to share their sketches and enjoy brown bag lunches. Register for part two here: https://aiacv_bio_sketch.eventbrite.com
