Hands-On Architecture: Learn, Build, Sketch & Color for Kids(Exp Arch 2022)

A family-friendly activity designed to help children 12 and under learn about architecture through children’s books on architecture and hands-on activities including building, sketching and coloring. The event will have three stations:
– a book reading and hands-on activity from the Chapter’s Architecture by the Book program. This program is designed to help students learn about architecture through books featuring a variety of renowned and diverse architects. This program “in a box” is available to educators in our community for use in STEAM enrichment activities.
– a Kid’s drawing activity, children will learn about elements of design and create pencil sketches of a building with guidance from architects
– a coloring station, featuring the Chapter’s new Architecture Coloring Book, highlighting local architectural projects and the architects who designed them
Activities are led by architect volunteers, and are designed for kids up to middle-school age, who must come with a parent or guardian. All materials, a light snack and water will be provided.
