Sacramento’s first African American architect, James C. Dodd, FAIA, NOMA, worked in the city for more than 40 years and designed a number of significant buildings during this time. Additionally, Mr. Dodd was one of the founding members of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) in 1970 – which has had a tremendous impact in empowering, elevating and educating Black and minority architects since it’s inception.
