MEET THE PRESENTERS

Frank Camarda, Assistant Superintendent, San Juan Unified School District

Frank is currently serving as the Assistant Superintendent of Operations, Facilities & Transportation San Juan Unified School District where he oversees the District’s a nearly $1.2 billion local bond program.

Laura Knauss, AIA, Principal, Lionakis

As a Principal and Education Practice Lead at Lionakis, Laura Knauss has more than 30 years of educational facilities planning and design experience. Laura serves as Treasurer with the AIA Central Valley Chapter and the Chair of the Chapter’s first Committee on Architecture for Education.

John Taylor, Sr. Project Manager, DPR Construction.

John has been with DPR for more than 23 years on a diverse range of projects including design-build and DSA reviewed projects, such as the Mira Loma HS Science building.

Derek Labrecque, AIA, Partner, JK Architecture Engineering

Derek brings over 25 years of experience focused on educational design and an Accredited Learning Environments Planner (ALEP) as recognized through the Association for Learning Environments. He brings a wealth of experience in understanding multiple intelligence; how students think and learn and how to create spaces that are both academically and socially relevant to meet his clients’ goals. Derek is also a Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) Certified Professional with an extensive resume in successful design build projects. Within the past three years his projects have received 9 DBIA Awards including the Best Educational Project in the Nation in 2019.

David Garner, Senior Project Manager, Flint Builders

As an integrated project leader David is at the hub of the project team and acts as a catalyst for collaboration and communication between the owner, designers, consultants and subcontractors through design and construction. David is passionate about innovative design and delivering an awesome experience for all project participants…..and he also loves to cook.
