The University of California Davis Health’s California Tower project is a million square feet, 334-bed patient tower located at the medical center in Sacramento. At $3.7B construction, it is the largest hospital progressive design-build project in the country.
UC Davis Health, McCarthy Construction Companies and SmithGroup will present a comprehensive overview of the project. Topics covered will include exterior and interior design concepts, medical planning innovations specific to the adaptable acuity patient room, and the opportunities and challenges of delivering this megaproject via progressive design/build. Additionally, the team will share their collective perspectives about how to invest time and resources to align the entire 600-person team for the benefit of the project. We will reserve a significant amount of time for Q&A for the audience.

Experience Architecture is a public-outreach event designed to facilitate greater transparency with the public in how architects create our built environment and how it impacts their daily lives; to create an ongoing dialogue to inform a distinct, regional, architectural identity; and to highlight existing relationships between the region and its architecture. This year’s events run from October 1st – 26th. To see more Experience Architecture events, visit www.aiacv.org/exparch
