Key Highlights OF 2019
- Held 52 Chapter events (13 during Experience Architecture for the public)
- Facilitated 23 people (including 13 AIA members) certification in the Post-Disaster Safety Assessment Program
- Developed AIACV’s first Empowering Conference focusing on Equity Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)–and created an EDI Committee
- In partnership with The e49 Foundation, held an Emerging Professional’s Tiny House / ADU Design Competition benefiting our community’s homeless
- Participated in the creation of a new public ADU resource Plus1House.org, launched in partnership with AIA California and AIA Pasadena & Foothill
- Started a new Civic Engagement Team, focusing on community advocacy and support of our Chapter’s Citizen Architects
- Due to generous member and firm donations, awarded the first AIACV/John Ellis Scholarship to John Liang, a Franklin High School graduate
- Member Ian Merker, AIA was recognized with the AIA California Young Architect Award, and Lionakis with the AIA California Firm Mentorship Award. Past President Brian Sehnert, AIA served on the National AIA Strategic Council.
A Look Ahead in 2020
- We start implementing the actions outlined in the Chapter’s newly approved 2020-2025 Strategic Plan
- Planning for the second biennial Celebration of the Profession to acknowledge newly licensed architects in our region
- Watch for a new Architecture Open House geared towards high school and college students focusing on architectural education pathways and resources in our community
- AIACV and SMUD are excited to team on a new series: “Transforming How We Build“, dedicated to high performance, regenerative design
- Executive Director Kimberly Anderson, Hon. AIA CA to serve on the AIA National CACE Board
