Participate on the AIACV Housing Task Force

Are you passionate about housing and how we, as architects, may help mitigate the housing crisis through innovative design, social activism, and policy change?  Join our informal discussions that lead to concrete ideas about Chapter events focused on housing. All are welcome!

Current Housing Task Force Projects and Areas of Interest

  1. City of Sacramento General Plan 2040 Update
  2. City of Sacramento Housing Policy Working Group
  3. City of Sacramento Missing Middle Housing Implementation Study
  4. Homelessness / Affordable Housing
  5. 2500 R Street – Case Study:  Sarah Ellis is the architect, Mark Wiese, Pacific Housing, is the developer.  Possible subject for an event at Experience Architecture or for an independent chapter event this fall.
  6. AIACV Housing Position Statement Review and Update:  https://aiacv.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/12-07-20-AIACV-Housing-Position-Statement_R5.pdf

Regular Meetings: Every Wednesday, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Location: Zoom (possibly in-person every so often, such as quarterly)

Ambiance / Format:  Salon[1]  – think of the salon hosted by Gertrude Stein in early 20th century Paris for notable figures of modernism in literature and art, such as Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Sinclair Lewis, Ezra Pound, Sherwood Anderson, and Henri Matisse.

Please email Paul Menard, AIA: [email protected] to be added to the group, or if you have questions.

[1] A periodic gathering of people of social or intellectual distinction (American Hertiage College Dictionary, Third Edition), who, in this case, also have an interest in the current housing situation, both locally and globally.
