This past week at AIA California’s Board of Directors meeting, our AIA Central Valley Chapter President and California’s State Architect, Ida Clair, was presented a sterling silver medal commissioned upon the 100th Centennial for the Division of the State Architect.
On March 11, 1907, California Governor James N. Gillett appointed George C. Sellon to be California’s first State Architect, following the San Francisco earthquake and fire of 1906. Since then, California has had nineteen men in this role – and now, 115 years later, we have our first woman in this position – Ida Clair, AIA!
AIA California and the architectural profession in California, congratulated Ida on her appointment as State Architect and presented a medal to commemorate her achievement. As the architectural profession’s highest appointed public official in California State government, she has joined a tremendous group of dedicated and passionate individuals.
Congratulations, Ida!
