Live Session: Juneteenth* (June 19th), 2020
Recording available below!
What exactly is Equity Diversity and Inclusion, also referred to as EDI? Why should understanding EDI and intercultural competence matter to design professionals and their firms? What is the business case for cultivating an inclusive environment?
According to IndependentSector.org, “an organization [or firm] that prioritizes diversity, equity and inclusion creates an environment that respects and values individual difference along varying dimensions. In addition, inclusive environments foster cultures that minimize bias and recognize and address systemic inequities, which, if unaddressed, can create disadvantage for certain individuals. This is not a human resources issue; it is a strategic issue.”
This 1.5-hour online session includes a presentation, reflective polling questions and optional break-out sessions designed to help you understand the basics and importance of EDI today and in the future.
*The live session occurred on Juneteenth, an American, civil rights, cultural, historical holiday which marks the end of slavery in the U.S. and commemorates African American freedom while emphasizing education and achievement.
