The City of Sacramento has transformed our downtown’s historic train depot, Sacramento Valley Station, into a transportation hub to serve all modes of travel to and from the station.
The rehabilitation of this historic train station rescues a once state-of-the-art depot from years of disrepair and returns it to the latest standards for rail travel in a beautifully restored grand civic space. The 68,000 s.f. project vastly improves the traveler experience and supports efficient Amtrak operations. Sensitive interior and exterior improvements revive the original character while integrating improved circulation, high-performance building systems, life-safety and accessibility upgrades, and new commercial lease space. Since its opening in 1926, the historic station has served as the primary rail passenger station for northern California, and has grown in ridership to the nations seventh busiest station.
